Peter is the Greek for the Hebrew name Cephas which means rock; a foundation stone. Jesus called Peter the rock on which his church was to be built in the same way that we wanted Cephas Care to be a firm foundation of care and support for all our customers and staff.
Peter was a friend of Jane’s and the reason that she started supporting adults with learning disabilities. Peter had profound learning and physical disabilities.
As a young man he lived at home with his parents. They expressed their concern for Peter’s future and where he would live when they could no longer support him. This led to a desire for us to offer people a home of their own where they could find fulfillment and realise their dreams. We believe it is important that everyone has the opportunity to live as independently as possible and in the way they wish with meaningful occupation.
Jane and Chris Hewson started Cephas Care in 1994 initially supporting 1 person with 3 staff. The business has grown to support over 100 people employing over 200 Staff.
Cephas aims to ensure that individuals receive a personalised service. We work closely with everyone involved in the person’s life both professional and personal. From the initial referral the person we support requiring the service and others involved and we are working together towards the same objectives.
